The Amalgamated Transit Union: Local 1336 (Bridgeport)

The Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) represents transit and allied workers in the U.S. and Canada. ATU Local 1336, under the leadership of President and Business Agent Mustafa Salahuddin, has been a Roundtable Affiliate since 2017. Based in Bridgeport, Local 1336 represents the Transit Bus Operators, Maintenance Mechanics and Dispatch supervisors for the Greater Bridgeport Transit (which will pilot the state’s first electric transit buses) as well as School Bus Operators in the Trumbull and Wilton, CT area. Mustafa also represents and manages the collective bargaining agreements for the members of the Milford Transit District, Durham School Bus Services in Trumbull, CT and Student Transportation of America in Wilton, CT.

Local 1336 has joined with six other ATU locals in the state to create the ATU Connecticut Legislative Council. During the 2018 legislative session, Local 1336 organized bus riders in support of restoring transportation funding in the state budget to prevent fare increases and service cuts. They actively supported the campaign to pass the transportation revenue lockbox referendum.
