Message from the Director: October 2019

A year ago, CRCJ helped lead the statewide effort to win the “transportation lockbox” referendum, establishing constitutional protections to ensure that money in the Special Transportation Fund (STF) can only be spent on transportation.

Now the challenge is ensuring adequate funding for all the state’s transportation needs is allocated to the STF in the first place.  There are hopeful signs that Governor Lamont and legislators may be approaching an agreement on a proposal that would strengthen transportation funding.  At the same time, the state is participating in a multi-state effort to reduce regional transportation emissions and raise funds for sustainable investments.

This month’s newsletter highlights opportunities for you to participate in shaping the state’s transportation policies and to identify priorities for how new funding should be invested.  Respond to the online survey, join us at these upcoming events and bring your ideas to the conversation!
