The Connecticut Roundtable On Climate And Jobs partnered with labor allies including AFL-CIO, Massachusetts Building Trades Unions, Massachusetts AFL-CIO, Connecticut State Building & Construction Trades Council, and Connecticut AFL-CIO, to ensure offshore wind developers prioritize strong labor standards and support local workforce development by crafting a joint letter of demands to send to the developers in advance of the March 27 offshore wind bid due date.
On March 1, the labor coalitions delivered the letter to the four developers (Orsted, Avangrid, CIP/Vineyard Offshore, and SouthCoast Wind/EDP/Shell) likely to bid on this procurement asking them to commit to the strong labor and equity standards. The letter was signed by AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler, and all three state AFL-CIO presidents and Building Trades presidents.
