Connecticut Roundtable On Climate And Jobs Selected As EPA Thriving Communities Program Anchor Organization

We are delighted to share that the Connecticut Roundtable on Climate and Jobs (CRCJ) has been selected as Connecticut’s Anchor Organization for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmaking Program. This designation allows CRCJ to serve as a key connector, helping community-based organizations access critical funding and resources to advance environmental justice across our state.

In light of the recent election results, CRCJ remains steadfast in our commitment to advancing climate justice, equity, and community resilience here in Connecticut and the region. We recognize that political landscapes may shift, but our dedication to a sustainable future—one that centers on environmental, racial, and economic justice—will never waver. Our designation as an anchor organization only strengthens our resolve to ensure that the most vulnerable and historically marginalized communities have a voice in shaping climate solutions.

CRCJ wants to assure our partners and allies in the Environmental Justice community that there is still and will be funding and support for EJ projects and we are committed to helping organizations, tribal governments, and others to find technical support and funding to further their efforts.

As part of this program, CRCJ will work closely with the EPA Region 1 grantmaker, Health Resources in Action (HRiA), to recruit diverse applicants for subgrant opportunities. Our primary focus will be on community-based nonprofits, particularly those new to federal funding, to ensure that Connecticut’s environmental justice community is well-represented and well-supported. In addition, CRCJ will be maintaining a database of environmental justice-related funding opportunities from federal, state, and private sources, allowing us to provide ongoing support to Connecticut organizations working toward equitable environmental solutions.

While the EPA finalizes the program details and resources, we encourage you to start preparing your environmental justice project ideas and initiatives. This is a valuable opportunity to gain support for your projects, and CRCJ will be here to guide you through the application process once subgrants become available.

Thank you for your partnership and commitment to a just, sustainable future. Together, we are poised to make a powerful impact in Connecticut.

In solidarity,

Your Partners At The Connecticut Roundtable on Climate and Jobs
